
The idea for this jewelry box was spawned by Instructables’ organization contest. I decided not to enter the contest before I finished as not many instructions are needed to put the box together. Instructions are necessary for modeling the individual boxes and it was too much to explain, simply. I used Blender and Tinkercad for modeling, working between both software throughout the project.



My thoughts from the beginning concerning design was to go outside of the circle. I wanted to create something that looked modular, modern, and permanent. Surprisingly (to me), I was not compelled to completely cover the spools. Their circular form contributed expression to the piece. I felt it should be an organization item that can be passed down through generations. Why not? I feel PLA is an undervalued building material and it most certainly is not cheap plastic.
